The housing and integration team focusses on finding solutions to the housing issue and the lack of integration within the refugee crisis.
Refugees have to overcome many barriers in finding accommodation. Lacking trust of potential landlords, language and cultural barriers, legal uncertainties, as well as lacking knowledge on how to search for an accommodation, are additional difficulties for refugees. This is why we aim to match refugees temporarily (3-6 months) with locals, who have a free (guest-)room, based on a normal sublet contract. While the local supports the refugee with their integration (e.g. finding a long-term accommodation, language support), the refugee can support the local in everyday life (e.g. in the household, taking care of the children).
The main goals of this collaborative cohabitation are to make real progress in terms of integration and to help refugees to find their own long-term accommodation.
